Teen Matters is here to promote good sexual, reproductive and personal health and well-being. Our goal is to help reduce the number of unintended teen pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections in teens in Athens and surrounding counties.
Poor or incorrect knowledge about effective contraception and infectious disease prevention or how to use it, combined with sometimes cavalier attitudes towards sex and pregnancy—if it happens, it happens—all contribute to the 20 million new sexually transmitted infections and 57 percent pregnancy rate among 15-19-year-olds.
