Ask the Health Educator: Chlamydia

Question from April 8, 2015

If u haven’t had ur period yet and you’ve had sex can u get chlamydia?

Answer:

Yes. If you have had sex, especially sex without a condom, there is a chance you could get Chlamydia or any other STD. Whether or not you have had a period has nothing to do with getting an STD. You can get one whether you have had your period or not. Although, if you have missed your period and are not on a method of birth control, there is a chance you could be pregnant. Teen Matters offers FREE birth control and STD services. Please come see us as soon as possible.
